The "Game of the Year" version of HL2 is currently not working. Tons
of people who shelled out $50 or more for the game, got it home,
installed everything and when they went to "subscribe," Steam gives an
error. Apparently, since this has been a problem since Thursday. I
bought the game last night and the exact same problem with me. Steams'
answer at the EB Games was "Sit tight and wait for a patch." If you go
over to steampowered.com and check out the forum, there's been tons of
people with the exact same issue. This is more Steam BS. You buy a game
and you expect to be able to play it when you get home. You understand
if the server is down for a time and you can't play online, but they
won't even let you play your game Offline. So, just wanted to post here
to get the word out in case someone else is sitting there with a
useless game wondering what's going on.
btw: There's been absolutely no public confirmation that they are
working on the problem, except from a guy who happened to be at the EB
Games. No response on their website, no response in the forums. 100s
have sent in complaints and posted. Still nothing but automated
responses.
