HL2 and Source games... No console and Q about in-game voice

I've never been able to access the console in any of the HL2/Source based
mods. My friends all ahve the same problem so I assume it's how Valve
designed it. Why is that? Is there any way to access the console? It really
sucks to not be able to use it. Also, how do you go about muting a single
person in the in-game voice. Thanks.

Because you haven't bothered to do a google search to see that you
enable it in the games control menu.

What Andrew said, look in your options menu to enable the console. As far
as muting somebody, hit <Esc>, click on Players List, highlight player you
don't want to hear anymore then click the appropriate button...

It's in the keyboard advanced controls IIRC.

Thanks guys, except Andrew. I didn't realize your bandwidth was so precious
that asking a question to which an answer could be found elsewhere. Just as
an FYI, I did search this groups past articles for anything relating to my
question and came up with nothing, so I figured I'd post and ask about it.
So Andrew, I'm terribly sorry to have wasted your few KB of bandwidth to
download my post and sort through my subject line, but it was your decision
to waste your time replying.
