Ever since I build my new PC with a AMD 4000 64 bit CPU, I can not get the
game to load. Disk #1just spins in the CD drive and does nothing. I can
not even explore the disk. I can explore all the other HL2 disks, just not
#1.

The odd thing is that when I try and install it on my old Intel machine, it
loads fine.

Is there a glich with the 64 bit processers?

Any help is greatful..

My first guess would be the CD drive.

I assume the same, that your CD/DVD drive is damaged or just old ?

if you have installed the game previously on another machine, all you need
to do is install steam, login, and download the game, it will take far
longer, but it could work away whilst you check to see if you have just a cd
drive instead of a dvd one
