soundmax

Hi all,

have a friend that has onboard soundmax audio , disabled HL2 runs fine
...enabled , it won't load.

I am still trying to get specific rev. numbers from him ....does anybody
know of an updated driver or a workaround?

(i know he could put another audio card in...don't want to go that route
unless required)

Onboard sourd and onboard graphics rarely have the raw processing power or
memory needed for gaming.
They are always a compromise solution a never as good as even most cheap
add-ins.

Run dxdiag. My guess is the sound driver is not DirectX compatible. Maybe
an updated driver might fix it.
